1. German Lotto rules change: Price

Lotto 6 aus 49 will soon be more expensive. From 23 September 2020 a betting field for the Wednesday Lotto as well as Saturday Lotto will cost 1.20 euros instead of the previous 1 euros.

Prior to this change, one line of Lotto including the ticket fee cost between €1.20 up to €2.00, depending on the region and provider. Now it is going to be at least 20 cents more. Since LottoStar24 doesn’t charge you any ticket fees, your final price per line will be only those €1.20 and nothing more. With LottoStar24 you can keep playing your favourite Lotto for the same price or cheaper then with most of the regional or online providers prior to the rise. Join the growing LottoStar24 community. 2. German Lotto rules change: Upper Jackpot cap

An upper limit for the jackpot will be introduced, which will also apply from 23 September. In the future, a maximum of 45 million euros will apply.
From now on, there is a maximum of 45 million euros that must be in the jackpot before the guaranteed payout.

Until now, the jackpot was always guaranteed to be paid out if there was no direct hit in prize class 1 after twelve draws. The jackpot has only been guaranteed to be paid out five times:

First time, on May 14, 2016, a player from North Rhine-Westphalia won “the forced payout” of over 37 million euros with prize class 2. The last guaranteed distribution so far was on June 3, 2020: A player from Thuringia cleared around 32 million euros with the six correct numbers.

This Lotto rule had been followed for more than 4 yrs and now the Lotto rules are changing. Now it can take more draws for the Lotto Jackpot to reach its top cap, however the 45 million cap is higher than most of the record jackpots ever won in Lotto, so it is definitely worth to wait for such event.

With this change of rules, Lotto 6 aus 49 is becoming similar to modern European lotteries with jackpot-caps like Eurojackpot (90 M cap) or Euromillion (200 M cap) offering lucrative odds while keeping the price per line still relatively low.

3. German Lotto rules change: Winning plan & Odds

New German Lotto rules: Better winning chances, Higher payouts
New German Lotto rules: Better winning chances, Higher payouts

The theoretical winning odds will increase in all profit classes. This also means, that from 23rd September 2020 German Lotto players can win more millions even with six correct numbers without a super number. In prize class 2, also known as ” six in the lottery”, more million payouts should be possible in the future. Also in the winning class 9 there will be a guaranteed prize amount of 6 euros instead of the previous 5 euro.

German Lotto rules – Conclusion

Higher prices of such a mass product as lotto may signal an upcoming era of rising inflation, an overall increase in prices as a consequence of current turbulent times (that is for most of us one more good reason to aim for winning a dream jackpot). Will we see other lottery prices to rise soon? We don’t know yet. Sure is however, that in the case of Lotto, the rise in price brings us also better odds in all winning classes and a nice jackpot cap.

Nowadays it is more important than ever to play Lotto with a trusted reliable provider, ideally such as LottoStar24 that allows continual savings on the ticket fees, regular weekly offers and discounts (which we have as well, just look here and choose a voucher for you).
